Southern Woods Flooring has been part of NE Georgia since 1995. For three decades, we've installed, refinished, and repaired floors in homes and businesses across Gwinnett, Barrow, Hall, Walton, and the surrounding counties. That's not a number we picked for the website — it's thousands of floors, thousands of families, and a reputation built one job at a time.

Thirty years in one market means we've seen every subfloor, every humidity problem, and every product trend that's come and gone. We know what holds up in Georgia homes and what doesn't. That experience shows in the details — transitions between rooms, stair nosings, how a stain will look six months after it's applied.

Southern Woods Flooring is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) — the industry's leading trade organization for wood flooring professionals. NWFA membership means we follow their installation, sanding, and finishing guidelines on every hardwood project we take on.

Those guidelines cover everything from subfloor preparation and moisture testing to acclimation, fastener schedules, and finish application. They exist because cutting corners on any of those steps leads to floors that buckle, gap, cup, or fail prematurely. Following NWFA standards is the difference between a floor that looks good on day one and a floor that still looks good in year ten.

Most flooring companies don't mention NWFA standards because they don't follow them — or don't know they exist. We think it matters. If you're comparing proposals from different installers, ask whether they follow NWFA guidelines. It's a simple question that separates professionals from everyone else.
